Ha, been there and done that!
I have some long stories to tell you or to others. I had been discriminated so many times with 3 different jobs, trust me.
Most asked me how I can understand hearing people when they talk. I told them to slow down and look into my face, so I can read lips very well. If not, write down. If the orders all screwed up, not because its my fault, its the waitstaffs fault for not changing the reciepts or orders. Verbal communications can get away with troubles, and put fingers at me many times. I got discriminated several times from Spirit Mountian Casino which the girl underage had no experience in prep cook which she was in training by me, (she moved into prep cook from dishwasher). She couldn't handle all those prep cook's responsibilities, and she got promoted to online cook. She was underage, against OSHA's regulations by not for her to use some machines or online cook! I've been prep cook for 3.5 years, where is my promotion to cook's position, but that underage girl? Huh? I worked so hard to get into cook position. I'm very good with knives, and follow the menues. People don't have the time to train me to be cook! I was frustrated!
Then other job, sigh, put me into cook position all the sudden for breakfast cok without training. What a challenge! I was lost and made so many mistakes. Then the boss put me back to prep cook and catering which I'm an expert in catering and training.
Then here I am at Chinook Winds Casino! I'm a line cook, then they allow spanish speaking employees to train me as a cook in spanish language! Duh! I'm not Mexican! I'm an American and I speak English! So, the chef put me into EDR (employee dining room). Sigh! I did applied for deli dept, but the chef turned down that offer for me due to "communication issues". Sigh, good grief!
I'm stuck in EDR right now. Its very frustrating.
I'm very good with food, and I know what to make, but I am all alone to make meals for the employees. All the employees are so grateful that I'm there for them cuz in the past, everyone served bad food which made them sick. I often fought with chef to make the food fresh, and right to refused to use old food to serve people!
Sigh!
